In this article we will look at how to add additional managers to your Space.
Manager Types
Spaces have the following manager roles:
- Owner – usually the user who created the Space. There can only be one owner (broadly the equivalent of a WordPress Post Author) and they are the only manager type who can delete a Space from the front end.
- Admin – a user with the same capabilities as the owner, but without the ability to delete a Space. They have full access to the frontend settings screens.
- Editor – a user who can carry out day-to-day tasks such as adding posts to the Space.
Assigning Roles

In the frontend, and as the owner of a Space, head to the Members tab. To assign a role to a user, they will need to already be a follower. In most cases, they already will be. If not, please ask them to follow or like the Space. Using the drop down list, select the follower, and then pick a role. Click update to save that role. Admins can also use this screen, however they can only promote a follower to an editor. This screen can also be used to downgrade a user, or revoke their role back to follower.
Can I Change the Owner Here?
For WordPress reasons, post authors are changed on the back end only. There is a separate guide here.
Why Are Only Followers Shown?
This is to maintain performance. Processing a list of all site users would be very challenging for most sites, especially those with large user bases.
